December 21st

Today was Wyatt's 5th birthday!  Since we had a "half birthday" party in the summer, we had just a small celebration with family.  The "Number Fairy" came to visit Wyatt this morning (she left 5's all over the house).  Then Matthew, Wyatt and I went to Angelo to see "Walking with Dinosaurs" in 3D while Cassidy stayed home with Granny B.  Wyatt loved it!  When we got home, Granddad finally got into town from Arlington, and we had some Spiderman Cupcakes that Granny B. made.  After cupcakes, Granddad brought in mine and Matt's Christmas present from the car.  A new recliner!! Yay!!  Now we can all fight over who gets to sit in it.  Can't believe my baby is already 5 years old!  Time is going by way to fast.

Wyatt's first Christmas party was today.  I am so glad Granny B was able to watch Cassidy so I didn't have to miss it!

December 19th

I spent this morning trying to get some newborn pictures before she gets too big!  I especially wanted to get one of her on her diaper changing area.  It is special to me because it is an armoire that used to be in my Meme's house years ago.   I have some wonderful friends who pitched in and had it repainted and it is beautiful now!!  Perfect for my little girl's room.

Looking absolutely adorable for her first trip to the doctor.

December 14th

Grampy came to Sonora to meet his new granddaughter!

December 12th

So today was the day we got to go home from the hospital.  I put Cassidy in her "going home" outfit just to realize it was not a newborn outfit...it was a 3 month outfit.  My first "mommy fail" with Cassidy.  Oh well.

December 11th

This was a tough day.  Cassidy was only one day old when Matthew found out his grandfather was in the hospital and extremely ill.  It was a tough decision, but we knew it might be the last time he would get to see his granddad, so Matt headed out that night to Dallas.  It was hard to let him go, but I know it was incredibly harder for Matt to leave us.  But due to this unforeseen situation, Cassidy and I were able to have some major bonding time for the rest of our hospital stay, which was only 1 more day.  Thankfully I had wonderful nurses who were in my room quickly anytime I pushed the call button.

December 10th...Cassidy's birth!

Cassidy's Birthday!!  Matt and I woke up super early and headed out for the hour long drive to get to San Angelo.  Some old school George Strait kept us awake all the way to the hospital.  Even though it was a scheduled c-section, I was starting to notice contractions, but not anything that bad.  When we arrived at the hospital and I was hooked up the monitors, it was obvious I was having pretty strong contractions, but I didn't really start feeling them until right before being wheeled into surgery.  I was too consumed with the ridiculously painful heartburn to really notice anything else.  I was able to take one last picture with Wyatt before he "officially" became a brother.  After I received the epidural and saw Matt walk into the operating room and sit down next to me, everything seemed to go by at lightening speed.  Before I knew it we heard the most beautiful sound (even if it was loud and sounded like a extremely angry cat.)  The last thing I remember were tears rolling down my face and seeing the tears well up in Matt's eyes.  Matt got a picture of Cassidy and I right before the medicine kicked in and completely knocked me out.  I don't even remember taking the picture.  In fact, I don't really remember much about the rest of that day.  It took me what seemed to be forever to completely come out of the anesthesia. I just remember trying SO HARD to carry on a conversation with the nurse in the recovery room so she would let me go to my room.  I just wanted to see my sweet baby girl again!  All 6 lbs, 13oz., and 18 inches of her.  She was healthy and absolutely beautiful!

I wish I could have been there to witness some of these pictures.  Especially the ones with Wyatt in them.  I LOVE the fact that Matthew got to carry Cassidy to the nursery from the operating room and that they let Wyatt in to help give his sister her first bath.  He is such a proud big brother.

Last picture taken as an "only child"
