My turn for Mother's Day Out again!

The kids spent quite a while at the fence watching the tractors tearing up the street.

May 17th- Anniversary

This blog post is for you, Matthew Henry Killough

So today was our anniversary.  We chose to celebrate at the Steak House, even though it had been a long day and we were all a bit exhausted.  Matthew...can you believe we have been married for 9 years? It seems like just yesterday we were both much skinnier, living it up in our tiny little one bedroom apartment. Well, maybe "living it up" isn't the right word...but something like that.  Eating out ALL the time, going to the movies, staying up late watching movies in bed, taking walks in the rain, spending a whole week of Christmas break watching three seasons of 24 (gotta love Jack Bower!), and making midnight runs to Whataburger for some oh-so-good breakfast taquitos.  Oh how things have changed!!  Flash forward nine years....no more Jack Bower.  Instead, it is Octonauts on the Disney Channel, Backyardigans on Nick Jr, and Wild Kratts on PBS.  It is story time and singing "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" every night.  Sword fights and super heroes.   Screaming and throwing fits.  Tickle monsters and contagious belly laughs.  It is having dinner with Iron Man, Captain America, or the occasional Power Ranger.  (Or in this picture: a snake.) It is "swing me TOO high" and "Are you going to check on me?"  It is no longer "me and you", but "our family."  It seems to be an uphill climb most of the time...but...I wouldn't change a thing.  Not one thing!  (Well...maybe I would have eaten a little healthier and exercised more!)  But as far as our marriage goes...my cup runneth over.  I have no idea how I could love you more than I did when we said our vows...but I do.  My love for you and Wyatt just continues to grow more every day.  I realize just how much God has blessed us with...and how he has proven his faithfulness again and again.  I love you forever and for always...and THANK YOU for loving me and Wyatt with the selfless love that you always have given so freely to us.

Here's to another nine crazy, lovely, beautiful years!

Mother's Day!  We had eight baby dedications this morning at church!!  This reminded me of my first Mother's Day... when Wyatt was dedicated at First Baptist Grand Prairie and he kept falling asleep (which was NOT normal for my extremely active baby boy.)  We found out he had 104 fever when we got home.  Yep, that is how I spent my first Mother's Day...taking care of a ridiculous sick baby.

After church, we went out to eat with friends at the Steak House.

The end of a long day...two very sleepy boys.

Matt and I attended (and spoke at) a  "Created to Create" retreat at the Episcopal Church today .  We got to see this extremely talented woman make some pottery.

Isaiah 64:8  "Yet, O Lord, you are our Father.  We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand.

This morning I took Wyatt to our AWESOME hairstylist to get his hair cut.  When we got out of the car at her shop on Main Street, we heard sirens.  This is NOT normal in Sonora except for the occasional ones hurrying down I-10.  These were loud...and continuous.  It then hit me that there MUST be a team going to state.  Turns out the girls track team was on their way out of town...so they (as ALL teams going to state in Sonora) had a royal escort out of town.  So we had a seat on the bench and watched the fun going down Main Street.

Now...time to get down to business.

When we came out...there was a storm a brewin'...something we don't get to see very often down here!!  Yay for storm clouds, wind, and thunder!

By the time we got home, we had RAIN!  Real rain.  Wet, cold rain.  It was perfect!  So Wyatt got to finally  "use" his umbrella he got from the store yesterday.  Fun times in the front yard.

It was raining today when Wy and I went grocery shopping...so I finally let Wyatt get the Spider Man umbrella he had been asking for...except for they were all sold out of them.  I am a horrible mom.  So a Transformers umbrella was going to have to do.  He could not wait to leave the store so he could "use" it.  But unfortunately it was no longer raining.  He ran around the house for hours asking every couple of minutes (no exaggeration) if it was raining.  Luckily there were a couple of small drops that before dark...so he ran out like there was a down poor.
